Artist’s Statement

My passion is to paint the human face.  Accordingly, my style is representational, and (most often) figurative.  I work in water-miscible oils due to their lower toxicity and to avoid the need for solvents.

Many of my portraits are of studio models; I’ve also painted co-workers, as well as relatives whose images I copied from old family photos.  One of my series, called “Symbolism”, draws on dreams and mythology.

I am obsessed by the many expressions of the human face, a fascination that will continue to occupy me for the rest of my life.
